The Resistance Fund therefore finances research projects in the fields of <strong>immunology and infectiology<\/strong>, so that we can better defend ourselves against viruses and bacteria in the future.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;206110&#8243;]<strong>The Resistance Fund focuses on the following goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improving our resistance (proactively).<\/li>\n<li>Being better able to fight infections (curative and reactive).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;115494&#8243;]<strong>Specific focus areas 2022-2024:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research in the field of:\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge &amp; improvement of the immune system<\/li>\n<li>Resistance of bacteria to antibiotics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Immunotherapy<\/li>\n<li>Stimulating collaboration in research<\/li>\n<li>Creating awareness for the above themes (importance &amp; urgency)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;161186&#8243;]The Resistance Fund draws particular attention to <strong>vulnerable groups<\/strong> in society, who are more susceptible to infections than others. For them, immune research is of vital importance. These vulnerable groups are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>premature infants;<\/li>\n<li>frail elderly (with Multi-morbidity)*;<\/li>\n<li>chronically ill;<\/li>\n<li>persons undergoing transplants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;389629&#8243;]Many people from these groups die not because of their condition, but because of an infection.
