Our goals

Our dream is: never sick again. Our dream is: never sick again. The Resistance Fund therefore finances research projects in the fields of immunology and infectiology, so that we can better defend ourselves against viruses and bacteria in the future.

The Resistance Fund focuses on the following goals:

  • Improving our resistance (proactively).
  • Being better able to fight infections (curative and reactive).

Specific focus areas 2022-2024:

  • Research in the field of:
    • Knowledge & improvement of the immune system
    • Resistance of bacteria to antibiotics
  • Immunotherapy
  • Stimulating collaboration in research
  • Creating awareness for the above themes (importance & urgency)

The Resistance Fund draws particular attention to vulnerable groups in society, who are more susceptible to infections than others. For them, immune research is of vital importance. These vulnerable groups are:

  • premature infants;
  • frail elderly (with Multi-morbidity)*;
  • chronically ill;
  • persons undergoing transplants.

Many people from these groups die not because of their condition, but because of an infection. Infections are the problem, an urgent problem.
